Gillian and Graham Briggs of Welton The Winners of the Petanque tournament held at Cherry Willingham on Sunday 13 September 2009

Although the weather was cool and somewhat too windy for comfort compared to the glorious weather of last year, the second late summer gathering did attract over 59 members from all parts of the county, making up 24 teams of two or three players representing their respective villages.
Everyone enjoyed a very good and sumptuous cold buffet at mid day in the village hall.

After a snake format of three rounds playing Boules, eight teams qualified for the quarter finals.
After well fought battles in the quarter and semi finals the final took place between Nettleham represented by Jeff and Barbara Milan and Welton represented by Graham and Gillian Briggs, two husband and wife teams.

After a hard fought match the victors for 2009 were the team from Welton, they now hold the trophy for one year.
