| Spalding and district (population
60,000) is twinned with Speyer and district a town in Germany (population 53,000). The
twinning link has been active since 1956 The
river Welland flows through the centre of Spalding, whilst Speyer is on the banks of the Rhine. Spalding
is noted for the tulip parade through the town that takes place in May of each year. Speyer has its
Festival (Petzel) in the second week of July, to celebrate the new wine. |
