Sceaux-sur-
Huisne is a small village of aproximately 500 adults, it is
situated on the route national N23 between La Ferte-Bernard
and Le Mans. It is located on the banks of the Huisne river
which runs into the river Sarthe to the south of Le Mans. An
annual fishing competition takes place every August. The village
dates back to Roman times and was a staging post and relaxation
place; the remains of thermal baths are all that now remain.
The village
has two restuarants, a primary school, a library, and a recently
renovated Hotel de Ville. There is a 12 century church in early
Gothic style.
A factory built in 1972 on the outskirts of the village by the
Bahier family, is a major producer of rillettes ( a local pate)
and is the main employer in the locality.
