Cherry Willingham is twinned with Le Grand Lucé a large village or small town in Sarthe; situated about 25 Km to the South east of Le Mans France. The town is built mostly of stone quarried locally. The first visit to Le Grand Lucé took place in October 1986 when the charter was signed. The twentieth anniversary of the twinning took place in October 2006.

Le Grand Lucé has a population of around 2500 souls and is the administrative centre for the area.
It has two squares with shops, restaurants and bars. On the side of one square is the town church. It has two small hotels, a bank, two small super markets and a fuel station. It has a junior and senior school for the children of the district and a very fine music academy. The town has a very active band which in the past played in Cherry Willingham during a visit by the whole band.

It has a fine chateau with extensive gardens,, now a private property. Some years ago when the first twinners visited the town the Chateau was being used as a hospice. There is now a new hospital adjacent to the Chateau.

Close by is the Foret De Berce in which roam deer and wild boar. A small village on the edge of the forest close to Le grand Lucé
"Jupilles" has a reputation for wood carving.
