Branston
Twinning Association signed its charter in May 1999 at Branston and in
October of the same year at La Chatre France.
La Chartre had been
twinned with the German town of Syke since 1974. The twinning with
Branston arose through an earlier connection between schools in Branston
and La Chartre.
La Chartre just
half an hour from Le Mans centre is favoured by English drivers taking
part in the 24 hour Le mans race in June of each year. It lies on the edge
of a wine growing region, many local people growing their own grapes. Many
have caves in which they store their wine
